The time has never been so crucial to support the VT LCV. The VT LCV is the only environmental organization in Vermont that can work directly with GREEN candidates to help them get elected. We can't afford to miss the opportunity an open seat in the gubernatorial election brings our state. The next governor will determine whether Vermonters continue to rely on an old nuclear power plant for our power or if we retire the aging plant and replace it with the clean energy future so many of us desire. And after eight years of failing to clean-up our waters as promised, we need a governor that understands how important Lake Champlain and all of our lakes, rivers, and streams are to our state's economy.
If our recent history is any indication, the next governor will hold that position for six to ten years. In that time, how our state grows, whether we have clean water for future generations, and how we power our towns, cities, and village centers will be determined.
